Our love for poultry farming was handed down to us by our mother Bernie, who reared chickens all of our lives, in what was a thriving cottage industry among the farming communities of Cavan and Monaghan. She taught us the importance of hard-work, respect for animals and a commitment to producing food in the most sustainable way.
Taking the principals adopted by our mother, we identified a gap in the market for high quality, sustainably produced, free-range chicken on a larger scale. Armed with this we worked hard to become the first farmers in Ireland to receive a licence to produce Free Range Chicken from the Department of Agriculture in 1991.
