Our Farm

Since the 1800’s, the Smith Family has farmed the same lands, nestled between lakeland and rich forestry in the North-East of Ireland.  We trace in the footsteps of our ancestors every day as we walk the same fields in the parish of Mullagh, County Cavan.

Sustainability

Sustainability is one of our core values and is considered in everything we do. We approach things holistically, and ensure to improve upon and maintain quality procedures at every turn. When we talk about sustainability, we not only look to environmental measures, but also to our local community and economy. This is an image of our wildflower meadow in full bloom.

We are proud members of Bord Bia’s Origin Green, the world’s first sustainable food production programme.

As part of our Origin Green journey, we recently completed the development of a new facility on our farm. This state-of-the-art building enhances our farm, our chickens and ultimately our community, and incorporates the following sustainability measures:

Low-energy lighting

To reduce our energy requirements

Extra insulation

To reduce fossil fuel usage

Enhanced habitats

To enable wildlife to flourish

Installation of beehives

To support our natural eco-system

Quality Standards

We are committed to quality. The high standards and love for farming that our family passed on to us is visible in every aspect of our process today. This means that we can guarantee Irish families a superior eating experience consistently; and with almost thirty years of free-range production experience behind us - it’s safe to say that we know our chicken!
